Better Earth Partners with GivePower for Global Impact
When Better Earth opened our HQ office in Tampa, FL, we were fortunate enough to have Aparna Mohla, VP of Corporate Partnerships at GivePower, as a guest on The Better Earth Podcast to discuss our partnership, our global impact, and how we plan to continue to build our partnership and make a world a better place.
GivePower is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to “electrify the world” by providing solar-based solutions for life’s most basic needs. Think of access to clean water and electricity powered by solar energy – that’s what GivePower does. They are truly committed to the cause of bringing the benefits of solar energy to parts of the world that still live in the dark. After starting their initial mission, GivePower realized that access to clean drinking water was also a necessary need that many people around the world did not have access to.

After learning of this statistic in 2018, GivePower made the decision that, in addition to providing clean solar energy, they would also deploy the GivePower Solar Water Farms. These farms consist of massive desalination units that use solar power to filter water, which provides clean water for these communities.
Better Earth’s partnership with GivePower started with each solar project that is signed and goes to install with Better Earth, we donate $40 to their organization. Even moreso, when that project is financed by Goodleap, they match our $40 donation. As those donations stack up, our company is able to participate in treks to other countries where we are actively helping to install solar systems to provide clean water and electricity. In May 2022, Better Earth was able to send 10 team members across different departments to Nepal with GivePower, and in 2023 we will be participating in a GivePower trek to Columbia. We truly love having the opportunity to participate in these treks, and hope to be involved in multiple treks each year moving forward as our partnership with GivePower continues to grow.
These treks allow our team to truly be involved and see the difference we are making in the world. By participating in these treks and seeing firsthand the global impact we can make, our team is more motivated than ever to work towards making the world a better place for everyone.
In the first 18 months of our partnership with GivePower, Better Earth has donated $166,000, allowing 5,000 people to get 20 years of access to clean drinking water powered by the sun
We believe that it is easy to “talk the talk” when it comes to wanting to make a difference, but what sets us apart is actually following through and “walking the walk”. Our partnership with GivePower is one of the ways we are actually able to make a real difference and help communities in need. When it came to forming a partnership with GivePower, there was no hesitation from our executive team. After learning that truly every dollar donated was put towards making a real impact (as opposed to other organizations where 20% of donations make an impact and 80% fund overhead), we were ready to jump right in and launch this amazing partnership.
GivePower and Better Earth are both on a projected growth path in their industries. Since our partnership began, Better Earth has grown tremendously both as a company and as an installer. With that growth, we will continue to grow our partnership with GivePower and keep making donations to such a great cause. From 2021 to 2022, GivePower nearly 3x their treks, sending around 350 volunteers to help provide clean water and electricity to struggling communities, with the projection to send over 400 volunteers on treks in 2023. With this growth, GivePower and Better Earth are able to continue to help these communities access clean water and electricity – things which we tend to take for granted in America.
